Its All About Jack
Virtually everything we do when regulating whether on a vertical or
grand piano either affects, or reveals itself in, the Jack. When we
come to a note with an issue, if we understand Jack we can quickly
diagnose what needs attention, and then quickly correct it. Handouts include
the regulating sequences, with a Quick Reference Guide to Jack. 1.5 hours,
brand new class.
How To Be A Mentor How To Be An Apprentice
Perhaps the largest problems our industry faces right now, and for the
foreseeable future, is the lack of new piano technicians entering the field.
The average technician is over 50, and the four residence schools train barely
enough piano technicians each year to replace those PTG members who pass
away and none to replace those who leave our profession for other
reasons.
For the past 20 years we have been working with hundreds of piano technicians,
all over the world, who successfully take on apprentice and with hundreds
of our students who have successful relationships with one, or more, technician
in their area.
Our new training book, which we call The Mentoring Book: How to be a Mentor
How to be an Apprentice is designed to help potential Mentors understand
how they can work with an Apprentice, and to help the Apprentii to understand
what the Mentor needs in order for them to work together.
Each technician attending this class will receive a copy of this book.
This class will be given Thursday night. Pizza and drinks included!
Why Did You Give the IRS an EXTRA $10,000 Last April - and Are You Going
to Do It Again Next Year?
Surveys show that the average American pays more taxes than they need to,
and my surveys show that the average piano technician overpays by $3-10,000
each year even if they use a CPA. Most piano technicians do not know
it, but the 1993/94, 1997, 2001 and 2003 tax law changes are a great benefit
to piano technicians but most do not take advantage of it because
they do not understand the law, or how it is crafted to help small businesses
prosper, and because they often use the wrong people to help complete their
tax filings.
The information you will receive in this class includes IRS code numbers,
and was derived from the IRS, IRS auditors and former auditors, our management
consultants, Licensed Tax Consultants and Enrolled Agents with the IRS -
so you can go back home and take advantage of these benefits with the confidence
you are filing an accurate return and receive all the deductions and
refunds to which you are entitled. This is what Randy calls a Money
Class, and the average piano technician who attends this class will
save $3,000 in taxes next year, and many will save much more.
This class will be an excellent complement to the three articles Randy recently
wrote, published in the January, February and March 2004 PTJournal.
